Product Description

GW9 Series Outdoor Disconnector Switch With Corrosion Resistence/Stable Performance High Voltage Ceramic Hookstick

Product Description:

Outdoor disconnector switches are indeed used in high-voltage power transmission and distribution systems to disconnect circuits from their power sources for maintenance or repair purposes. They provide a means for isolating the circuit from the power supply, allowing workers to safely perform their tasks without the risk of electric shock.

The operation of an outdoor disconnector switch involves a rotating pole that controls the opening and closing of the switch's blade or contact. By rotating the pole, the blade can be engaged or disengaged, thereby connecting or disconnecting the circuit. This mechanism allows for a manual and visible indication of the switch's status.

To ensure operator safety, the pole of the disconnector switch is typically made of a non-conductive material, such as fiberglass or composite materials, which provides insulation against the high voltage present in the system. This insulation protects the operator from electric shock when operating the switch.

Outdoor disconnector switches are available in various designs and sizes to accommodate different voltage and current ratings of the circuits they control. They are commonly mounted on poles or structures in outdoor settings, where they can be easily accessed and operated. In conjunction with other protective devices like circuit breakers and fuses, disconnector switches contribute to the overall safety and reliability of the electrical system by providing a means of isolation and protection.

Feature:

1 Safety: The primary feature of a hookstick switch is safety. It allows maintenance personnel to safely disconnect a circuit from its power source without the risk of electrocution.

2 Remote Operation: The switch can be operated from a safe distance using a long pole or "hookstick," which eliminates the need for personnel to be in close proximity to the high-voltage equipment.

3 Easy to Use: Hookstick switches are designed to be easy to use and require minimal training to operate.

4 Durability: They are designed to withstand harsh environmental conditions, such as extreme temperatures, humidity, and corrosive substances.

5 High Voltage Rating: Hookstick switches are typically used in high-voltage power transmission and distribution systems and have a high voltage rating, ranging from a few thousand volts to several hundred thousand volts.

6 Versatility: They can be used for a wide range of applications, including switching and isolating circuits, as well as for grounding and de-energizing equipment.

7 Visual Indicators: Some hookstick switches have visual indicators that show whether the switch is open or closed, making it easier for operators to know the status of the circuit.

Safety Risks:

1Electrical shock: High voltage disconnect switches can deliver a potentially lethal electric shock if they are not handled properly. This can happen if the switch is not properly isolated before it is opened or if there is a fault in the equipment.

2Arc flash: When high voltage disconnect switches are opened, an arc flash can occur, which can release a significant amount of energy in the form of heat, light, and pressure. This can cause burns, eye damage, and other injuries.

3Equipment failure: High voltage disconnect switches can fail if they are not properly maintained or if they are overloaded. This can lead to equipment damage, electrical fires, and other hazards.

4Environmental hazards: High voltage disconnect switches are often located in outdoor environments, where they can be exposed to extreme weather conditions, such as high winds, heavy rain, and lightning strikes. These conditions can create additional safety risks for personnel who are operating or maintaining the equipment.

P.S.

To minimize the risks associated with high voltage disconnect switches, it is important to follow proper safety procedures, including using appropriate personal protective equipment, following lockout and tagout procedures, and ensuring that only qualified and trained personnel are allowed to operate and maintain the equipment. Regular maintenance and testing of the equipment can also help to reduce the risk of equipment failure and other hazards.

Safety Tips:

1.Conduct routine testing and maintenance on the switch to ensure its proper functioning. This includes testing the switch's insulation resistance, verifying the operation of safety interlocks, and checking for any abnormal heating or vibrations.

2.Implement a lockout/tagout procedure before performing maintenance or repair work on the switch. This procedure involves locking and tagging the switch to prevent accidental energization while work is being carried out, providing an additional layer of safety.

3.Provide adequate training to personnel who will be operating or working on the switch. Training should cover proper handling, operation, and maintenance procedures, as well as the potential hazards associated with the switch.

4.Implement a comprehensive safety management system that includes regular safety audits, hazard assessments, and incident reporting. This proactive approach to safety helps identify and address potential risks before they result in accidents or injuries.

5.Ensure proper ventilation and cooling systems are in place for high voltage isolator switches located in enclosed or confined spaces. 6.Adequate ventilation helps dissipate heat and prevents the switch from overheating, which can lead to malfunctions or even fires.

Condition:

1.The maximum altitude for installation should not exceed 1000m.

2.The ambient air temperature should not exceed +40'C, and in general areas, it should not fall below -30'C. In Paramos areas, it should not fall below -40'C.

3.The wind pressure should not exceed 700Pa, corresponding to a wind speed of 34m/s.

4.The isolator should be able to withstand earthquakes of up to 8 degrees in intensity.

5.The isolator should be installed in a location where there is no frequent violent vibration.

6.For ordinary type isolators, they should be kept away from gas, smoke, chemical deposition, salt-spray fog, dust, and other explosive and corrosive materials that can seriously affect the isolator's insulation and conduction capability.

7.Pollution-proof type isolators are suitable for use in severely filthy conduction areas, but they should not be installed in areas with any explosive or fire-causing materials.
