Product Decription:


 

High voltage disconnect switches play a crucial role in power transmission and distribution systems. Air-break switches are the most common and rely on physically separating contacts to interrupt the circuit. Oil-immersed switches are filled with oil to prevent arcing, making them suitable for high voltage applications. Gas-insulated switches utilize sulfur hexafluoride gas for insulation, allowing for more compact designs.

Operating and maintaining high voltage disconnect switches require qualified personnel with proper training. Safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment and adherence to lockout/tagout protocols, are critical to prevent accidents and ensure worker safety. Application:


 

1.Substation isolation: In a substation, high voltage disconnector switches are used to disconnect transformers, circuit breakers, and other equipment from the power system for maintenance or repair.

2.Transmission line isolation: High voltage disconnector switches are used to isolate sections of a high voltage transmission line for maintenance, repair, or to prevent power flow during emergencies.

3.Capacitor bank switching: In power systems with capacitor banks, high voltage disconnector switches are used to disconnect the capacitor bank from the power system for maintenance or repair.

4.Load shedding: In case of an overload or other emergency situation, high voltage disconnector switches can be used to shed load by disconnecting certain sections of the power system.

5.Fault isolation: High voltage disconnector switches are used to isolate faulted sections of the power system to prevent damage to equipment and ensure continuity of power supply.

 

 

Operation:


 

High voltage disconnect switches separates the conductive part from the base using an insulator to ensure a normal working insulation distance and fix the conductive part, insulator, and base as an integral switching device. When it is in the open position, there is a visible gap and a proper breaking insulation distance to withstand the normal working voltage. When it is in the closed position, it can reliably carry the normal working current and short-circuit fault current. Due to the presence of a dedicated arc extinguishing device, it can only be used for switching circuits with voltage but no load. The opening and closing operations are carried out by using an insulating hook to pull or push the round hole in the interlock, causing the dynamic interlock hook to disengage and engage with the static interlock hook.

 

 


Structure:


 

This product is composed of base (plate), post insulator, conductive part and interlock device. One end of the knife is installed on the dynamic contact knife head through bolts, and the other end of the knife is separately connected with the static contact head, and each side is maintained in a good contact state by the pressure of the compression spring. Each knife is slot-shaped type, which not only increases the heat dissipation surface of the knife, but also conducive to reducing the temperature rise, and improve the mechanical strength of the knife, making the dynamic thermal stability against short circuit. The interlocking parts installed at the non-rotating end of the contact knife and the static locking hook on the static contact constitute the opening locking device, which is self-locking when the brake is closed, so that the brake knife will not fall off by itself due to its own weight or the action of electric power, resulting in the opening of the brake without cause.

The relation between the outdoor vacuum circuit breaker and the outdoor high-voltage disconnect isolator lies in their complementary roles in the electrical system:

 

Circuit Interruption: The vacuum circuit breaker is responsible for interrupting the electrical circuit during normal operation or in the event of a fault. It acts as the primary means of breaking the current flow. In contrast, the disconnect isolator is used for isolating the circuit from the power source during maintenance or repair activities. It provides an additional layer of safety by physically opening the circuit.

 

Coordination: In high-voltage power systems, the vacuum circuit breaker and the disconnect isolator are often coordinated to work together. The circuit breaker is responsible for detecting faults and tripping to interrupt the current flow, while the disconnect isolator is used to physically isolate the circuit and provide a visible indication of the disconnection.

 

Safety and Maintenance: The disconnect isolator plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety of maintenance personnel. Before any maintenance work can be performed on the electrical equipment, the disconnect isolator is operated to open the circuit and provide a visible air gap.
